A good thing I didn't plan to go to the 'Breakfast with Santa' down the street at the Resort hotel with R&L and the kids. Rich snored so badly last night I had to get up and sit in the lazy boy. Even with his mask it was hopeless... the mask leaked and sounded like a trumpet. It wasn't his fault and this doesn't happen all the time, but last night was awful. So, I didn't get up this AM till 9:30AM....not bad considering I went to sleep at 3:30AM.
If he was 20 when I was born, I'd be approaching my 98th birthday in February. I was of course his last child. I'm sure glad he didn't marry at 19 which many folks did 'way back then'.
'Centering' is difficult. Three of my cylinders collapsed today because I didn't center them properly. My final attempt was successful and Lindsay said we'd fire this one. I realized the reason I was having so much difficulty was because at other times Lindsay was more 'hands on' with me. Now, she's says it's time for me to fly solo. She'll still help me when things get wobbly, and she'll help me fine tune my pressure application. But more and more, I'll be doing it by myself.
Lindsay called to see if we could switch today's pottery lesson to tomorrow, and that'll work well for me. I've been reading the book she gave me, and I'm getting a bit confused when I read the instructions for 'throwing' pottery. Up until now Lindsay told me what to do and then demonstrated the technique, and I was fine.
Got to the eye doc for an eye exam so I could get more contacts. They wouldn't re order them when I called the other day because it was more than a year since my last exam. I've had other eye exams, but not for contacts since '07. I'm tellin' ya they have more ways to make money. I was there on time for my 2:45PM and didn't get seen till 3:45PM. I was afraid I wouldn't get back home in time to meet Rich so we could go over to Norfolk to see the kids in their costumes.
Never heard back from the 'Product Specialist' at Apple. Not a good sign. Guess I'll have to call tomorrow.
Neighbor Jean came over early with a bottle of Merlot for Rich. She's been an octogenarian for almost two years....not everyone makes it to that club. She's a good soul and has been a good neighbor to us, and we to her for the past 10 years.
And watching, with eternal lids apart,
Like nature's patient, sleepless Eremite,
The moving waters at their priestlike task
Of pure ablution round earth's human shores,
Or gazing on the new soft-fallen mask
Of snow upon the mountains and the moors--
No--yet still stedfast, still unchangeable,
Pillow'd upon my fair love's ripening breast,
To feel for ever its soft fall and swell,
Awake for ever in a sweet unrest,
Still, still to hear her tender-taken breath,
And so live ever--or else swoon to death.
Either I am losing it or getting ready for a new career path. I'm sure National Geographic will want me as one of their photographers.
Add a little dash of healthy denial and the world looks not all that bad.
Yesterday (Friday) I cleaned so today I played. I went to the commissary and Navy Exchange. I had to get a birthday gift for Brooke's birthday in September. While there I picked up a few Christmas presents for her. I couldn't find anything for Trevor...but I'm sure I have enough time before Christmas, don't I?
