Made it over to Dr K-Fs to have her check out this area on my rib. Rich wanted to go with me so I had company for the 30 minute ride. Had to be there at 7:50AM which required getting up at 6:30AM...not so easy when I didn't go to sleep til after Midnight. I do like the early morning hours, but sleep does not visit me til around 12 or 12:30AM. If I went to bed earlier I'd be lying awake for longer than recommended by the sleep specialists. I've adjusted to my cycle....and it seems OK.
Dr K-F ordered X-rays of my rib cage. She should have the report back this afternoon, and if she does....she'll call me. She said it could be due to arthritis....I guess it could be. I hadn't thought of that, but nevertheless best to check it out, since I've had breast ca on that side with 6 weeks of radiation. Radiation can affect bones...so we'll soon learn.
I thought pottery class was today, but I got an email from LIndsay suggesting Thurs or Fri. Brooke and I will go on Friday.
11AM: Rich went to see the Nurse Practitioner at the Vascular Surgeon's office this morning. I wanted his leg checked to R/O (rule out) cellulitis. If it is cellulitis it is best to get it early so that only one course of antibiotics would be needed. After the Costa Rica experience where he bumped his leg (same leg) getting out of the bathtub, he needed 3 rounds of different antibiotics to wipe out the cellulitis. Of course the antibiotics also wiped out his normal GI bacteria and he got the dreaded Clostridium Difficile (C Diff) which causes severe diarrhea. He got very dehydrated and had to be admitted for 5 days. So, you can see why I don't want to take any chances with this episode. I didn't go with him to this visit today, so I am anxious to hear what the NP thinks.
Noon: Rich just called and the NP gave him a script for Keflex. Hey, I diagnosed this cellulits right. I think I recognize it when I see it...this is his 3rd or 4th episode. When fluid collects in the lower extremities and there is the slightest break in the skin...bacteria walk right in...hey, wasn't that a song...𝄞𝄞 Walk right in.𝄞𝄞..sit right down daddy let 𝄞𝄞 etc. Here, sing along.
OK, I'm back....Keflex is one of the culprits that can lead to C diff mentioned above, but I'm hoping one course will take care of this. More yogurt for him to help with the normal bowel bacteria. Activia will be in full swing.
Now to get my xray results.
Well, no call back from the MD regarding my xray. I'm sure she'll call in the AM...hope it's not too early.
Travis stopped by to go over the maintenance things I want him to address. He'll bring his crew in two weeks....let's see if he does. I'd wanted new screening in the upstairs window screens because birds have ripped up those screens. I told Travis back in March, but he's just now getting here. Rich says it's ridiculous to put new screening in now and we should have it done in the spring. I guess he's right. The other things will be done.
Boy, did I fool myself tonight. We couldn't think of what to have for supper and Rich suggested hot dogs and baked beans. Yes! I'd sauté some spinach, make him a salad and I'd finish the Quinoa (keen-wa). I assumed ...there's that famous word....assumed he had low fat dogs. When I took a bite of my hot dog...I had two of them...I thought I'd gone to heaven. They were soooo good. After a few bites I said "it's hard to believe these are reduced fat".....to which Rich laughed and said "let me assure you they are not". Damm. Well they were already on my plate and soooo good, I finished them. Each one had 170 calories, 15 gms of fat and 0 fiber. I calculated that to be about 5 points. Since I had two of them....10 points were easily consumed. I'll have to do some exercise tomorrow or something. I think I'm still in my allotted points. I get quite a few because of my height and wgt....thank heavens for that.
Gotta get offline....torrential rains sounding like hurricane weather. Loud, crashing thunder and sh zam lightning. ttyl,
Later: I don't remember a lightning storm like the one we just had. Power was out for 2 hrs. I was feeling like I was back in Pensacola. Seems like there are more than the usual # of storms for this area...it's still raining with light thunder and lightning now at 11:46PM. Nitey night.
