Last night I ordered online some crop pants from Land's End. Shortly thereafter I kept thinking I already have those crops. Maybe I forgot to bring them downstairs with the other summer clothes.
This morning I went upstairs and there they were in the drawer. How I missed them I do not know. I immediately called Land's End to cancel my order giving them the order # etc. The nice man on the phone said "they were shipped this AM". I said "fine, and I can return them to the local Sears store". He told me it was too late to cancel the order and the S&H was not refundable. S&H was $7.95. I told him I understood and since it is less than 24 hours, I would like them to make an exception. He put me on hold and transferred me sweet sounding Joanie who was sorry, but they could not credit me the S&H. I told her I was a good customer of LE and have always liked dealing with them, and I was sure they could make an exception. I asked her to check with someone higher. I was polite giving praise to LE and at the same time assertive in my tone. Never aggressive.....but definitely assertive.
Joanie then said she could make a one time exception. I thanked her and she told me LE does not refund S&H because they then are out of the S&H money. I said nothing more than thank you, I appreciate you making the exception. So, it doesn't hurt to try, right. My mother always taught me 'you get more flies with honey, than vinegar'. I certainly wasn't sugary sweet which I abhor in women; I was assertive.
Rich hung the bracket for the hummingbird feeder and I prepared their sugary delight. Hopefully, we'll see some feeders.
I'm going to meet Tanya (personal trainer) in a short while. I've met with her three times and she has given me some very good core exercises I can do on my own. I may have to take a break because of time conflicts with the pottery class.
