In case you're wondering how I look ...here I am after getting my haircut today.
That picture is kinda blurry...I used photo booth...for you Mac users..webcam for all the others. I was having trouble bringing the photo to my blog so I copied a copy so to speak. Rich says that's not really my hairstyle and he's right, I can't stand hair on my face so I wind up pulling it back with a comb or even a headband.
After the haircut I stopped at Samaritan House to drop off the phone surveys I'd done and then I headed to my appointment with the personal trainer...Tanya.
I was early so I went into 'Gamestop' to see if they sold Wii Fit. I want another work out for the days when I don't want to do the treadmill. The basic Wii is fun with the bowling, baseball, boxing and tennis, but I want something more structured. I noticed something on the shelf called Wii ACTIVE. The saleman said it provides a good work out with 25 different exercises..e.g. volleyball, boxing, running etc. It doesn't have yoga which I don't think I could/would do so I don't need the components of the Wii Fit. Wii Active doesn't require a balance board and it's $30 less than the Wii Fit. The salesman said it's a bit tougher in that the built-in trainer doesn't let you 'slide' when you are doing an exercise...the trainer will say 'how about doing that again'. So, I will report back whether I like it or not.
Today Tanya had me go over last week's exercises and she says I have good 'body awareness'...Yes..I do. I can isolate my core muscles quite well. She gave me a new balance exercise...stand with one foot in front of the other...heel to toe...and then turn my head slightly to the right...then left, then back to center. THEN facing center do it with eyes CLOSED. Whoa! I told her I must have brain stem damage because I last about 2 milliseconds. She said to work up to a minute, But DO IT IN A DOOR WAY so I can catch myself if I lose balance.....like I might not....ha ha ha ha.
Still haven't heard back from my brother Jim about his Pet scan. I can't believe it's so hard to get scheduled for one at Pennsylvania Hosp. I think I'll call him tomorrow.
Am hoping to hear from nephew Mike who was planning to come to VA this week to visit friends. Hope we can get together with him.
